Holy Week 2021

Holy Week begins on Sunday, March 28 with Palm Sunday.  At both of our 8:30 and 11:00 services we’ll have a parade of the palms as worship begins.  The children are especially invited to participate, but anyone who is “young at heart” is certainly encouraged to join in the parade.  Just arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of either service to get your palm branch, which we’ll provide! Each day during Holy Week, we’ll send out the link to our Council of Bishops’ daily devotionals on Dismantling Racism, along with the study guide. Maundy Thursday (April 1st)  our church  family is invited to gather in the sanctuary at 7:00 for a time to remember Jesus’ Last Meal with his closest friends.  This service will include the full reading of the…

Christmas Eve Service 2020

MAKE RESERVATIONS FOR OUR TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE OF LESSONS AND CAROLS AND CANDLE LIGHT COMMUNION Will be at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 24th. At this time, plans are still to offer the service, both in person and virtually, via Facebook Live and on our website. If you choose to attend the in person service, (wearing a mask), please text our Worship Committee Chair-person, Cyd Travillian at 731-336-7534 with your name and the number in your party who will be seated with you. To make our social distanced seating less confusing, seats on the lower level will be reserved for those who plan to attend in person. Blue Christmas Service for 2020

BLUE CHRISTMAS - Most of us like to think of the days leading up to Christmas as being all “merry and bright!” But for many, the Christmas season is a difficult time due to deep grief and sadness because of the loss of loved ones; concerns about employment, health issues or strained and broken relationships. This service of scripture readings, meditative music and the lighting of candles and prayers will be posted at noon on our Paris First UMC Facebook page on Monday, December 21st, the “Longest Night” of the year. Church on the Grounds 6/14/20

Weather permitting any of our Church family who would like to join in an outdoor in-person worship service are invited to bring a lawn chair or a blanket and find a spot on the front lawn at 8:30 THIS SUNDAY, JUNE 14. It's BYOB. (Bring your own bulletin!) Since we're outside and will  be observing safe distancing, masks will be optional.  Our service will still be broadcast Live on Facebook at 11:00.

Pentacost Parade

Want to "be the church" and encourage those who are especially vulnerable to contract COVID-19 and, thus, have been staying at home for a couple of months? Want to uplift those who have been at home longer due to illness, surgery, or mobility issues? If so, we invite you to be part of "passing the peace" with First United Methodist Church on Sunday, May 31. We will be lining up in the Poplar Street parking lot beginning at 12:30. We want to leave by 1 PM. We expect to be finished by 2 PM. Each parade of cars will probably be comprised of 5-6 cars/trucks and you'll pass by 5-6 places. Update as of 6/5: We will not gather for worship at the Church until June 21. Please join us on Facebook for our live streaming service each Sunday at 11:00 am.
